"Broken Bride" A Rock-Opera Time Travel Odyssey
A few weeks ago I was riding in a friends car and they played for me an obscure album from a little known band. Since I first heard the band they have become more well known, releasing their new album "You're Awful, I Love You". It was not, however, this lively and amazing CD which first made me fall in love with the sensation known as Ludo. Their short 5 song CD from 2005 "Broken Bride" was all it took.
Broken Bride is a short but moving rock opera. Filled with a creative storyline and beautiful melodies which just fill your heart. The romantic story is one of a man who loses his love. Only different from many other love stories he creates a time machine to go back and stop her from dieing, unable to live without her. The songs take our hero from the dawn of time, fighting off pterodactyls and ice ages, to the very end of time. In a very moving depiction of the apocalypse (including mention of my favorite apocalyptic monster: zombies!) the character is made to be close to the listener. The descriptions in the lyrics paired with the music easily put the listener right there with the hero, feeling his pain, and going through everything with him.
A wonderfully moving piece the band has a way with telling some amazingly creative tales with their music. I commend them, and I think all should listen to them. Give Ludo a chance, if you don't love them you should get yourself checked.
